Prevention in the Community
Partnering with the school district and community organizations, Harvey County D-FY is implementing evidence-based prevention programming throughout the county.

Current Harvey County Programs

Project ALERT is a classroom-based curriculum drug and alcohol prevention program. Youth receive the full program in 7th grade and then get 3 booster sessions the next year in 8th grade.
This program is currently being carried out in Halstead, Sedgwick, and Burrton in partnership with the Kansas Learning Center for Health and the Harvey County Health Department.

Parent Project is a parenting program focused on helping those parents with difficult children create solutions to negative behaviors in their youth.
One Parent Project session has been carried out through partnerships with Offender Victim Ministries, the Harvey County Health Department, Community Corrections, and Cooper Early Education Center.

MediaReady is a media literacy program to teach 6th-8th graders how to see past the media messages that they receive about alcohol and tobacco.
MediaReady has currently been delivered through Chisholm Middle School's EMPOWER program thanks to the school's fantastic and willing administration.
